To work as a full specialist in Florida, you need a state specialty registration. If you already have a full specialty license from another state, you might be able to get a Florida specialty registration without taking a new test. This is called obtaining a "registration by endorsement."
Here is what you need to do:
Your Current License
You must have an active specialty license or registration from another state.
Age
You must be at least 16 years old or have a high school diploma.
HIV/AIDS Class
You must take the 4-Hour Initial HIV/AIDS Course. To begin the HIV course, go here. You need to finish this class within two years prior to sending in your application.
No Exam
If you qualify for a registration by endorsement, you do not have to take the Florida cosmetology exam.
Payment
You have to pay a fee with your application. If you are in the military or a military spouse, you might be able to get a discount or have the fee waived.
How to Apply
You can fill out the form online or print it out.
