REGISTRATION BY ENDORSEMENT - NAIL SPECIALIST

HOW TO OBTAIN A FLORIDA NAIL SPECIALIST REGISTRATION BY ENDORSEMENT

If you have a manicure/pedicure/nail extension license from certain states and territories, you may be eligible to obtain a Florida cosmetology license by endorsement. (However, if your license is from another country, then the process is different. Learn more about obtaining a Florida cosmetology license by examination here.)

Application requirements include the following:

ENDORSEMENT
Attempting to qualify for licensure in Florida by holding an active license in another state whose requirements for licensure are comparable or more stringent than Florida requirements.

AGE
Specialty registration applicants must be at least 16 years of age or have received a high school diploma.

EDUCATION
All applicants attempting to endorse an out-of-state license must have completed educational hours, comparable or more stringent than those required in Florida. Florida requires completion of 180 educational hours.

4-HOUR INITIAL HIV/AIDS COURSE
You must have completed the 4-Hour Initial HIV/AIDS within two years prior to submitting your application. Take your 4-Hour Initial HIV/AIDS Course now!

OUT-OF-STATE LICENSES
All applicants must provide a certification of licensure from the state where the applicant holds a current and active specialist license/registration. Certification must verify a current and active license and the number of educational hours completed. Submitting a copy of your license will not meet this requirement.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
Submit a copy of the Certificate of Completion from the approved specialist training program.

EXAMINATION
No additional exam is required if you qualify for licensure by endorsement.

FEE
You must pay the required fee as provided in the application. However, military veterans, their spouses, and Florida National Guard members may be eligible for a fee waiver, fee reimbursement, and/or fee discount.

APPLICATION
You must complete the required application: Form # DBPR COSMO 4-A.
